-Before We Begin-
Here are some basic things you need to know about the Kerning City Party Quest:
- When looking to get into a PQ(Party Quest), it's always best to go to Channel 1, there are almost always people recruiting there.
- You have to be between the levels of 21 and 30 to do the Kerning City PQ.
- You can only have 4 people in your party, including the leader. No more, no less.
- You have only 30 minutes to complete all the stages of the Kerning City PQ.
- Only 1 party per channel can do the PQ at any given time. See the "Bonus Stage" section for more details.
-Stage 1-
This stage is pretty straight forward, but there are a few rumors that need to be straightened out. First, walk to the far right corner of the map and talk to the NPC Cloto. She will ask you a question testing your general Maple Story Knowledge. Every question can be answered with a certain number, so if you're not sure about a question, one of your party members will more than likely be able to tell you.
Here are some answers to the more common questions you will be asked:
- The minimum level required to become a Warrior/Bowman/Thief: 10
- The minimum level required to become a Magician: 8
- The minimum amount of STR needed to become a Warrior: 35
- The minimum amount of DEX needed to become a Thief/Bowman: 25
- The minimum amount of INT needed to become a Magician: 20
Now, you can't just tell Cloto the answer to you question, you have to go around the map and kill the Aligator like monsters and collect the tickets they drop. After you collect the number of tickets equal to the answer to your question, return and talk to Cloto. She will swap out you tickets for a Pass. All party members of the party except for the leader have to answer their question and get a Pass. After you and your party members get your Passes, you must give them to the party leader by dropping them so he or she can pick them up.
After the leader has all 3 passes, they must speak to Cloto and the Stage is cleared. The Portal behind Cloto opens up and leads you to Stage 2.
-Stage 2-
This stage is generally considered to be the easiest stage. The objective of this stage is to find the correct combination of 3 of the 4 vines hanging in the middle of the map. For each combination, the party leader needs to click on Cloto (once again located in the far right corner of the map) while the other 3 members are hanging on the vines. If one combination doesn't work, try the next one. The general order to try the combinations is as follows:
- Top Left Vine, Bottom Left Vine, Bottom Right Vine.
- Top Right Vine, Bottom Left Vine, Bottom Right Vine.
- Top Left Vine, Top Right Vine, Bottom Right Vine.
- Top Left Vine, Top Right Vine, Bottom Left Vine.
After the correct combination is found, the stage is cleared and the portal leading to the next stage, located once again, behind Cloto, will open up.
-Stage 3-
Walk up the rather steep incline infront of you until you reach 5 leadges with kittens on them. These are the focus of this stage. Each leadge has a different number of kittens in a basket. Starting from the far left going counter-clockwise, the numbers are as follows: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The objective of this stage is to find the right combination of 3 platforms. The party leader will be clicking Cloto (located to the right of the platforms) for every combination you and the other 2 members try.
This is the best and most accepted order in which to try the platform combinations:
- 1,2,3
- 1,2,4
- 1,2,5
- 1,3,4
- 1,3,5
- 1,4,5
- 2,3,4
- 2,3,5
- 2,4,5
- 3,4,5
After you find the correct combination, the stage is cleared and the green swirling magic portal, located behind Cloto, leading to the next stage is once again opened.
-Stage 4-
Climb the cliffs infront of you in a zig-zag pattern until you reach the top platform. There you find 6 barrels. These are clearly numbered 1-6 from top to bottom, left to right. The objective of this stage is, like the last one, to find the correct combination of 3 barrels. The party leader will be clicking Cloto (located, once again, to the right of the barrels) for every combination you and the other 2 members try.
This is the best and most accepted order in which to try the barrel combinations:

After finding the correct combination, the portal behind Cloto leading to the last stage of the Party Quest opens. Step in if you are ready for your final challenge.

This is the final obstical in your quest. Are you ready?
This stage is pretty straight forward. You and your party start off on a short ledge, jump off and proceed to work your way down to the bottom of the map, along the way killing the various monsters, letting the party leader collect all the Passes they drop. Once you reach the bottom, you will find a giant boss monster known as the Slime King. Depending on your level, it can be a pretty challenging fight.
The Slime King: The best and fastest way to defeat the Slime King is for all the members in your party to attack him together, making sure that everyone watches thier health because the Slime King can do a lot of damage to lower levels. Once the big bad boss is knocked down to half of his health, he summons a bunch of tiny slimes around him. These serve more as annoyances than any form of danger, despose of them quickly and get back to pounding the Slime King until he dies.
After the Slime King is taken care of, he should drop the last Pass your leader needs (Total of 10). Move back up to the top and let the leader talk to Cloto (located to the right of were you started) and the final stage is cleared. Unlike the other stages, you don't exit through the portal, you simply talk to Cloto and she gives you your reward and (if you finished the whole party quest with at least 10 minutes to spare) warps you to the Bonus Stage.
-Bonus Stage-
If you and your party finished the quest with at least 10 minutes remaining on the clock, you are rewared with the choice to spend your remaining time in the Bonus Stage.
There isn't much here, just a collection of platforms and ladders all containing Green and Horny Mushrooms.
You and your party can choose to leave at any time by talking to Cloto in the bottom right corner of the map, or you can let the clock run out, at which time you will be automatically ejected from the Bonus Stage and into the "Exit" where you simply talk to the NPC located on top of the sewer pipe to be transported back to Kerning City.
If you and your party want to repeat the quest, it is generally a good idea to send out 1 party member before the rest to "scout" the area around the NPC who allows you into the PQ. This "scout" should see how many other people are waiting to get in to the PQ and write down a few names in order to keep "track" of the party as they progress through the quest using the "/find" feature (EX: /find CrimSpin).
